The Catacombs

And that's where I finally come in. Shortly after the Dethroned Queen's rise to power, every single member of the military that had opposed her were imprisoned or executed and were replaced by her most faithful servants. I was among the servants that would replaced the now dead organization formerly known as Project Evolution.

Our organization's (whose name I am not allowed to give out) job is to monitor the Earth for any involvement of enemy Fears. Or more accurately the remaining servants of the Fears, who have been attempting to undermine the Dethroned Queen's rule for over twenty years now.

Their oldest objective since the fall of the Fears has been finding a way to enter their former master's domain. Which was made completely impossible when the Fears that ruled them abandoned this universe. That didn't stop the Blind Man's Archivists from spending the last ten years trying to find a way in however.

When I got the report this morning of a portal leading into the Catacombs finally being open, I immediately assumed the Archivists finally succeeded in their goal. But that was not the case, and my superior officers informed me that the portal was created from within the Catacombs itself.

I drove to the source of the portal at Tallahashery University as fast as I could and with the approval of my superiors, I started to examine it.

"Do you think this could have been the Blind Man's doing?" One of the college professors asked.

"Even if the Blind Man was still alive, I doubt he would open a portal that would allow just about anyone to enter it. It's more likely that this is some sort of dimensional bleeding."

"A good guess, but incorrect."

I don't know how it managed to avoid being seen through the portal for so long, but at the moment that was the least of my problems as this new creature entered our world. It looked human but I knew that was merely the form it had chosen to confront us in. It's gender was indeterminate gender, it's hair was auburn hair and ragged, and it's clothes was lopsided clothes. It wore an eye-patch over its right eye, and in its left eye there is was infinity symbol where the pupil should have been.

"What... What the hell are you?"

"I believe you already know what I am Robert Whately." The creature said.

"How do... Never mind, I don't want to know. Just tell me who the hell you are."

"I am the Constant Wanderer, the Fear of repetition, routine, and leading a meaningless life."

"... I I've been a servant for the Dethroned Queen for almost my entire life and I've never heard of you before."

"Of course you haven't, I never had a counterpart on your world."

"Of course there isn't. Look, I know being trapped in the Catacombs has probably put a lot of mental strain on your mind but you aren't a Fear. At best your an Archivist that has been trapped in the Blind Man's endless library for far too long."

"Oh yes, of course that must be the reason I can use this" it said in a sarcastic tone as it pulled out the Blind Man's book.

The Wanderer then opened the book and millions of images assaulted my brain all at once. I saw the memories of the countless people the Blind Man has encountered over the millennium. I was convinced that I was going to have a heart attack, but fortunately the Constant Wanderer closed the Blind Man's book before that could happen.

"Now that my work here is done, I think I'll take the time to explore this world."

"Stop..." I said with what little breath I had left. "You can't... You can't just do this and walk away."

"Of course I can. You can barely breath let alone stand. But don't worry, my friends will take care of you..."
